Loladamusica 1996 Drum and Bass

I used to watch and tape all the episodes of Loladamusica , unfortunatly i lost most of the tapes.
Well thanks to youtube i found an old episode on drum and bass.

Motu 828 MK3

Motu has made a new version of their 828 series audio interfaces, it now has internal effects. I still have the "old" Mk2 and it's a very good bit of kit indeed.
I am looking forward to testing the new machine.

Akai is presenting the new MPC 5000.

"The MPC series set the standard for beat production. What would it take to make the ultimate MPC? Dozens of engineers, 20 years of experience and a new synth and drum sampling engine unlike any MPC ever. Introducing the MPC5000; the new standard for music production.

The MPC5000 is the first MPC ever to include 8-track streaming hard disk recording, a 20-voice, 3-oscillator analog synthesizer with arpeggiator, a new sequencing engine with 960 ppq resolution, pad and track muting and mixing, 64 continuous sample tracks. I have mentioned this before on my old website and last week i checked it again.

For the ones into music the red bull music academy is a cool website. Every year there is a gathering of people in the music industry and people who are trying te get their start in the music business. The site contains a lot of interviews and cool video's from the previous editions.

Macworld 2008 product news

Well the first Apple keynote for this year is over. A new ultrathin laptop and a few other cool new features to already existing products.
And a few new things like movie rentals, unfortunatly Us only for now.
The laptop looks pretty cool but is a bit expensive. But then again which ultrathin laptop isn't.

Personally i hoped for an update for the Mac mini. Well maybe later this year.

R.I.P. Ron Murphy

This morning i was reading my favorite music websites and came across the news of the passing of Ron Murphy.
Ron was responsible for the detroit techno sound. He mastered most of the classic detroit house and techno tracks.

Here a quote from discogs.com

"Ron Murphy is probably one of the most instrumental figures in the history Detroit electronic music. All you have to do is take a good look in your record collection and look for the little NSC logo on the runout groove on the inside of the record. Ron has shaped the sound of Detroit Techno more than just about anybody. There were allot of records back in the beginning that were brought in by people that knew next to nothing about production or mixing down properly and Ron has saved the sound of those records and many of them have went down in history as some of the finest examples of techno ever made. Ron has been one of the biggest opponents of overcompression in the industry as people have rushed to bring techno music into the rediculous loudness war that the rest of the record industry is engaged in currently. His mastering is both dynamic and warm and has been praised for it's definition in the low end. A kick drum on an NSC mastered record is a beautiful thing to behold. He's a real living legend in this industry yet he remains humble and is still one of the most interesting figures in this industry that i have ever talked to. A true classic character."

Nespresso

Ok i am lazy, so i didn't want to bother with a "real" espresso machine. I tried the nespresso and it produced a very good espresso and i decided to buy one.
It's a siemens machine, the SN30. Looks good in the new kitchen :)

Nokia N95

Today i ordered a new phone, my first Nokia smartphone. We'll see :)

The Wire season 5

On January 6th the final season of the wire will start on HBO. For me this is one of the best series of the last few years.
Make sure to watch it.

Bruges

Bruges a week or two ago. Very nice city indeed. Good restaurants and a lot to see.
